This research is an effort to improve shoe and footwear design course materials in Shoes Design and Technology Study Program of the Leather Technology Academy Yogyakarta, i.e. to find out some alternatives in designing shoe and footwear which are easy for students to practise.
After making the preparation, like basic guidenlines to draw shoes from side view (silhouette), teaching strategies, the introduction to shoe form and component structure, the application of design principles, and the creativity in extracting ideas throught sketches, then it is applied in the theoritical and practical courses of shoes and footwear design.
The result of the student practical work were than compiled and bound into portfolio, which is than used as the achievement assessment system of students. After the assessment was done, the results were very significant. It proved that there were more and more students producing innovative works in accordance with form and aesthetics feasibility.
