PENGARUH KONSENTRASI MIMOSA PADA PENYAMAKAN NABATI DENGAN PRETANNING ZAT PENYAMAK KULIT BUAH MANGGIS TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK DAN KEMULURANNYA

The study was conducted to utilize tannin from mangosteen peel as pre-tanning agent for vegetable tanning process using mimosa to get standard goat leather.
The material for tanning was goat pickle and tanning extract form mangosteen peel of 40% with mimosa tanning agent of 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, 16% towards tensile strenth and elongation (SNI.06-1975-1990).
This research employs Statistic Design especially of Randomized Completely Bloc Design (RCBD) to analyze the data.
This research indicates that to obtain goat leather fulfilling the standard, concentration of 40% mangosteen tanning agent should be combined with 10% of mimosa concentration. Tensile strength has fulfilled SNI. 0463-89-A for minimum 75 kg/cm2 but the elongation has not (maximum 25%). The result of this research has the range of 26% to 42%, therefore, it suggests to reducing oil.
