TRAINING ON LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM)

In August 2009, ATK sent one of its lecturers to join training program on Logistics & Supply Chain Management: Strategy for Cost Efficiency & Service Enhancement.
The participants of the training were 23 people from 8 ASEAN countries; Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam (3 persons/each country).
The training which was supported by the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship [AOTS] Japan and organized by the Matsushita Gobel Institute (MGI) Indonesia was held from 4 – 13 August in Jakarta.
The objectives of the logistics & Supply Chain Management training were to understand the usefulness of logistics and supply chain management (SCM), to acquire the ability to develop a logistics and SCM training program to promote and disseminate logistics & SCM in the participants’ countries and also to learn about the Logistics Kaizen methods.
Some topics given in the training were such as Indonesian Government Policy in Logistics & SCM, The general overview of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, precondition which carries out SCM & logistics, Supply-chain network reformation, logistics operation, reformation of logistics operation Inventory Management, Storage & Material Handling, Transportation & Distribution, Measuring Logistics Costs & Performance, Logistic Kaizen Program, and Using IT for Logistic Kaizen.
The training is beneficial for ATK since it is able to enlarge the knowledge and improve the skill on Logistics & Supply Chain Management. It will also be more useful if implemented in ATK, esp. in order to increase its performance which further leads to customer satisfaction.
