Phytoremediation is a method that uses plants to remediate site contaminated with organic and inorganic pollutants. This method has several advantages than other conventional methods. It is a green technology, easy and low cost application and does not need expensive equipment and specialized expert person, and has aesthetic value. Although this method has some limitations and some ecological adverse effects, with carefully-planned phytoremediation using fast growing, high biomass, deep rooted and native chromium-hyperaccumulator species, it is the best alternative for re-mediating chromium-contaminated bodies of soils and water in developing countries.
